Meet the makers and Co-founders
Nikoui was born from decades of experience — and a lifelong obsession with fragrance.
Marshoud has spent years across industries, from spirits to food, from advertising to brand development, building businesses and shaping identities on an international scale. But through it all, fragrance remained a constant passion. A personal collection that grew year by year. A feeling that no other medium could replicate. Eventually, owning someone else's creations was no longer enough.
Jesper brings over two decades in the industry — a deep knowledge of craft, commerce, and the kind of instinct that only comes with time. Together, Marshoud and Jesper have known each other for more than 20 years. When the moment came to build something truly their own, the partnership was the obvious choice.
What We Make
Nikoui is built around a single idea: New Nordic Niche.
It's a combination of considered design, accessible luxury, and an effortless sensibility that doesn't chase trends. From our walnut cap — a quiet nod to Danish furniture heritage — to the fragrances themselves, everything is crafted to be timeless. Clean and precise, but never cold. Distinctive, but never alienating.
We develop our scents hands-on, working directly with raw materials before refining each composition alongside a team of perfumers with over 30 years of collective experience. Their technical mastery shapes our vision into something real — something you can wear.
These are fragrances for people who want to expand their olfactory wardrobe. Not a statement. Not a trend. Just a scent worth living in.

A fragrance is...
A feeling no words can carry.
Was there a moment when you knew Maison Nikoui had to exist?
When we presented to the biggest buyers in Paris in 2026 and the room went quiet — in the best way. That was the moment.
What do you bring to the creative process?
Years of building brands across industries gives you a sense of what works before it works. I trust that instinct completely.
An ingredient you keep returning to?
Bergamot, ginger, patchouli, musk. Bergamot opens everything — it's pure clarity. Ginger adds an edge that keeps it honest. Patchouli grounds it, gives it weight and character. Musk makes it last, makes it yours. Together they feel like a signature we never tire of.
What does it mean to make something Nordic in a category dominated by French and Middle Eastern houses?
It means everything. That's why we built our production in Denmark. Made in Denmark isn't a label — it's a statement. Denmark carries a design legacy the world already respects. We're bringing that same precision and restraint to fragrance.
A fragrance you deeply respect — not yours?
Memo African Leather. It's a beautiful composition. But the list is long.
Where does Nikoui sit in ten years?
1,000 doors worldwide. The world deserves to smell New Nordic Niche.
What do most perfume brands get wrong?
They design for shelves, not for skin.

The first scent you remember?
Coolwater by Davidoff. It wasn't subtle — but it was the moment I understood that a fragrance could make you feel like someone.
You've spent years building relationships across industries. What's the one thing that never changes about people?
Kindness. And an instinct for quality. Walk into almost any room, and the people who matter are in a good mood — they're curious, generous, present. That never changes.
Nikoui walks into a room. What's the energy?
Calm. Confident. A quiet excitement that doesn't need to announce itself.
A collaboration that would genuinely excite you — any brand, any world?
Alchemist. Without hesitation. What they've done for food — that playfulness, that fearlessness — is exactly the energy we'd want to bring into a room together. I have no idea what we'd create. That's precisely the point.
What's the difference between a good fragrance and one you actually remember?
A good fragrance is clean, precise, immediate — it gives you a spark. A fragrance you remember is something else entirely. It has layers. It builds. It pulls at memories you'd forgotten you had and creates new ones before you realise it's happening.
You can only wear one scent for the rest of your life. What does it smell like?
Bois Noir. That one was never a difficult choice.
What does a perfect Monday morning smell like?
Spring, specifically. That exact moment when the cold of the night hasn't quite left but the sun is already winning. That threshold — between frost and warmth — is something I look forward to every single year. If I could bottle that transition, I would.
The best feedback you've ever received on a fragrance — from a stranger?
"Where can I get that?" Five words. Nothing beats it.
Nordic design has conquered furniture, fashion, food. Why has fragrance taken longer?
Fragrance has historically been French. Italian. A European luxury with a very specific geography attached to it. But look at what happened to food — twenty years ago, nobody looked to Copenhagen for culinary innovation. Now they do. We're at that same inflection point with fragrance. New Nordic Niche isn't a positioning. It's a movement that was always going to happen. We just intend to lead it.
What would Nikoui never be?
Complacent. Everything we make comes from conviction — from an honest place. The moment we start settling, we've lost the only thing that matters.
